What happened here?
Approximately 26 acres of the former Buffalo Shooting Club property along Maple Road operated as a shooting range from about 1943 until 2006. Range activity left lead shot, clay-target debris, and soil affected by lead and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
The Brownfield Cleanup Program remedy removed impacted material for recycling, treatment, and off-site disposal. DEC certified completion in May 2012. Later redevelopment planning identifies the property for the 716 Sports Complex.
